Pendleton Lewis and Clark Blanket

Product Description
The Lewis and Clark Expedition has long been recognized as a pivotal event in our Nations history. The current bicentennial era had revealed the true importance of the Washington segment of the trail; therefore it is appropriate that the Washington State History Museum commission Pendleton Woolen Mills to produce this special blanket to celebrate this bicentennial event that helped shape our country from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.
This Collectors Edition blanket will have a limited run of 1805 blankets and is sure to become one of the most prized bicentennial collectibles. This blanket provides a comprehensive view of the complete track of exploration from St. Louis to the Pacific Ocean.
The Lewis and Clark blanket tells the story of the Corps of Discovery. The image of Lewis and Clark is the official insignia emblazoned along the trail and the map is a faithful replica of the trail map produced by the expedition with words in brackets added to Captain William Clarks place names to aid in identifying important sites.
The bands at the top and bottom of the blanket represent the major Native American homelands and environmental zones through which Lewis and Clark passed on their way to the Pacific. The lower band is emblematic of the plains; the upper band represents the coastal zone near trails end.
The insert images are of two other icons of the expedition York and Sacagawea. Both of whom voted at Station Camp to determine the winter campsite of 1805-1806; that became Fort Clatsop; decades before Constitutional amendments expanded the franchise to African-Americans and women.
