Features a central bird and bat motif taken from 14th century Sikyatki pottery of this pueblo tribe. Hopi Trail venerates the ancient Native American craft of pottery-making. Expressing remembrances of life, pottery and textiles served as utilitarian items for cooking, storage, clothing and ceremonial uses. For Hopi Trail, Ms. Sakiestewa chose early symbols of abundance and fertility to connect these themes--a bird and bat motif inspired by 14th century Sikyatki pottery vessels.
